3 Killed, 13 Injured in Taiz Blast

Three people were killed and about 13 others injured, including women and children, on Thursday, in an explosion in the center of Taiz province.

Sources familiar with the matter said that an improvised explosive device was remotely detonated  in front of the headquarters of the Islah Party, the Yemeni branch of the Muslim Brotherhood.

The sources said that Ibrahim al-Sharai, a party leader in the Cairo district, was among those killed. Abdul Jalil Moqbel, a member of the party, was also injured in the explosion, along with two bodyguards assigned to the party’s executive office building.

The sources added that the wounded were taken to hospitals, with some reported to be in serious condition.

The Islah Party condemned what it described as a “treacherous crime” that targeted its headquarters on Jamal Street in central Taiz, calling the attack a heinous act against a civilian political party. The party did not identify the perpetrators.

Taiz province, which is under the control of the Saudi-led aggression forces , has witnessed ongoing conflicts between factions of the Islah Party and pro-UAE forces seeking to impose control over areas held by the party.
