The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates in Sana’a, Abdulwahid Abu Ras, met via video conference on Wednesday with the UN Regional Coordinator for Communication, Moeen Ahmed Shrim, regarding detained UN personnel.
During the meeting, Abu Ras addressed the legal measures taken against “espionage cells” accused of crimes affecting national security, including a plot targeting the leadership of the Government of Change and Building.
He stated that these measures were conducted in accordance with national laws and in alignment with international human rights standards.
Abu Ras emphasized the government’s commitment to building trust with the United Nations and international organizations, providing the necessary facilities to support humanitarian efforts.
He also called on the UN to rectify “imbalances” that have affected the work of some of its agencies, stressing that Yemen’s sovereignty and security remain a non-negotiable priority.
For his part, Moeen Shrim affirmed the United Nations’ keenness to maintain its relationship with Yemen and continue joint cooperation to meet the needs of the Yemeni people.
