Yahya Al-Sarraj, head of the Union of Municipalities of Gaza and mayor of Gaza City, warned on Monday that a new weather system could be harsher than previous ones.
He said Gaza has not yet recovered from the last storm and faces heightened risks due to destroyed infrastructure, lack of safe shelters, and fuel shortages.
Al-Sarraj highlighted the dangers of flooding in tents and damaged buildings housing displaced people, urging urgent international assistance, including temporary shelters, winter supplies, and heavy machinery to support municipal relief efforts.
