The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has said the martyrdom of prisoner Abdul-Rahman al‑Sabbatin, 21, in Israeli detention highlights once again the systematic policy of slow killing pursued against Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons.
“The martyrdom of prisoner Abdul-Rahman Sufyan Mohamed al‑Sabbatin, from the town of Husan in Bethlehem Governorate, after his health worsened in Israeli jails, constitutes a new crime added to the record of horrific violations committed by the Israeli prison service against Palestinian detainees,” Hamas said in a statement on Wednesday.
Hamas said that the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails endure “physical abuse, maltreatment, starvation, and deliberate medical neglect, amid harsh incarceration conditions and violations that have been escalating since the start of the war on Gaza.”
