The spokesperson for Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the Zionist regime’s actions violating Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, warning that the move aims to destabilize the region and fuel insecurity in the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa, according to Tasnim News Agency.
In a statement released on Saturday, Esmaeil Baqaei denounced the Zionist regime’s move to flagrantly violate Somalia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity –through efforts to advance a plot to fragment the Islamic country– as a clear breach of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.
Emphasizing Iran’s principled stance on the necessity of preserving the national sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, he said the Zionist regime’s malicious maneuver was in line with its policy of destabilizing countries in the region and intensifying insecurity in the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa.
The Iranian spokesman further expressed support for the firm positions taken by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the African Union in condemning the Zionist regime’s action, calling on the international community to take decisive measures to neutralize this expansionist and threat-generating move by the occupying Israeli regime.
His comments came a day after the Israeli regime formally recognized Somaliland, triggering swift condemnation across African and Arab nations, and raising concerns about whether the move was part of an Israeli plan to forcibly displace Palestinians.
