The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (ICTS) said on Sunday it had arrested five terrorists in operations carried out across three provinces.
In a statement obtained by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), ICTS said the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to enhance national security and pursue terrorist members. The operations were conducted based on judicial warrants, precise intelligence and continuous field monitoring.
The statement said two terrorists were arrested in Kirkuk province, where they had been operating as transporters, suppliers and facilitators for the defeated ISIS groups.
In Anbar province, security forces carried out two separate operations that resulted in the arrest of two terrorists, one of whom had previously operated in several sectors of what was known as the group’s “Anbar Province.”
In a separate operation, security forces in Nineveh province arrested another terrorist linked to remnants of the Islamic State group, the statement said.
ICTS reaffirmed its commitment to continuing pre-emptive operations under an advanced security strategy aimed at achieving a safe and stable Iraq.
