Palestinian Infant Dies from Severe Cold in Gaza

A Palestinian infant, 8 months old, died today, Thursday, as a result of the severe cold in the city of Khan Yunis, southern Gaza Strip.

Palestinian medical sources reported that the 8-month-old infant, Rahaf Abu Jazar, died in Khan Yunis due to the bitter cold.

The sources indicated that the incident reflects the critical humanitarian conditions in the Strip, especially for children and displaced persons who are living in weak, inadequate tents that are unprepared to face the cold weather.

The residents of the Gaza Strip are suffering from a lack of shelter and medical treatment, and the absence of heating methods due to the fuel shortage, amid a stormy, cold, and rainy low-pressure system.
