Two Senior Al-Qaeda Officials Killed In US Drone Strike In Marib

Two senior figures in Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) were killed in a US drone strike on Marib province late Monday, media sources reported.

According to the media sources, a US drone struck a motorcycle near a farm of Al-Qaeda leader Raed Bin Maili, in the al-Hadn sector of Wadi Ubaidah, east of Marib, reportedly killing two senior AQAP figures.

The were identified as Anis Al-Hasali, a top figure in Al-Qaeda’s security apparatus, and Abu Obeidah Al-Hadhrami.

According to reports, al-Hadrami served as the group’s senior judicial official responsible for religious rulings, internal ideological enforcement and oversight of judicial structures within AQAP.

The Saudi-affiliated Islah Party in Marib is known to harbour Al-Qaeda leaders and elements, a clear cooperation that manifested in their participation in battles against Sana’a government forces on numerous fronts.
