UNICEF Spokesperson: “Rain Makes Gaza children face extremely difficult conditions”

The spokesperson for the United Nations Children’s Fund in Palestine (UNICEF), Kazem Abu Khalaf, confirmed that the living conditions for children in the Gaza Strip are extremely difficult, especially with the ongoing winter rains.

Speaking to Al Jazeera, the UNICEF spokesperson in Palestine said that heavy rains are pouring over the Gaza Strip, causing water to enter the tents of displaced families.

He added that the level of needs in Gaza is extremely high, and what international and humanitarian organizations distribute is insufficient to meet the needs of the displaced.

Abu Khalaf pointed out that UNICEF has distributed 600,000 blankets and 7,000 tents in Gaza, noting that these amounts are not enough to meet the needs of displaced families.

The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip came into effect on October 10, following a two-year-long Israeli genocidal war. However, the Israeli army continues to violate the agreement daily and still prevents the entry of most humanitarian aid into the Strip.
