The Executive Center for Mine Action (YEMAC) destroyed an estimated 260 antivehicle mines left behind by the US-Saudi aggression, in Al-Hali district of Hodeidah governorate, with funding from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
Director of the Executive Center for Mine Action, Brigadier General Ali Safra, explained that the disposal of these remnants was carried out in two phases by the Sixth and Second Platoon teams.
The first phase involved destroying 140 mines, and the second involved 120 anti-vehicle mines, which were discovered and dismantled in Field No. (1) and Field No. (2) in the Al-Ahwad area of Al-Hali district.
He pointed to the direct threat these remnants pose to civilian lives, noting that dozens of injuries and fatalities have been recorded recently due to the explosion of remnants of war in several areas.
He praised all efforts and high competence of the Centre’s branch workers in Hodeidah governorate in carrying out their assigned tasks.
For his part, The Director of the Center’s branch in the governorate, Colonel Yahya Sabr, added that the disposal of this quantity was carried out with 100% safety, taking all necessary measures to ensure no incidents occurred during the operation.
He affirmed the continuation of clearance and disposal operations for these hazardous remnants across all affected districts, as part of the Center’s comprehensive plan to secure the safe return of citizens to their homes, farms, and normal lives.
