The UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967, Francesca Albanese, said on Friday that the demolition by Israeli authorities of the UNRWA headquarters in occupied East Jerusalem symbolizes a systematic attack on the UN system and the Palestinian people.
In a statement, Albanese expressed her concern over the “systematic and ongoing attack on UNRWA and the UN system,” following the storming of the UN agency’s compound in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood this week by Israeli forces and the commencement of its demolition using bulldozers and heavy machinery.
