Amnesty International said on Wednesday that Israel’s illegal demolition of UNRWA buildings in occupied East Jerusalem yesterday, carried out openly under the supervision of the Minister of National Security, is yet another example of the Israeli authorities’ blatant disregard for international law, the United Nations, and humanitarian work.
In a post on the X platform, monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the organization said:
“While Israel continues to flagrantly violate its obligations toward Palestinian refugees, UNRWA has long been a lifeline, providing indispensable humanitarian assistance, education, employment, and shelter.”
It added:“States must act by supporting UNRWA unconditionally and pressuring Israel to comply with the International Court of Justice advisory opinion issued in October 2025.”
Amnesty International called on Israel to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid, immediately repeal its anti-UNRWA legislation, and lift its harsh and arbitrary restrictions on humanitarian organizations.
