Araghchi criticizes cancellation of his Davos appearance & condemns double standards on Zionist crimes in Gaza

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticized the cancellation of his appearance at the World Economic Forum in Davos, attributing it to lies and Zionist and U.S. pressure.

In a post on the X platform, monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), Araghchi condemned the failure to take any similar action against officials of the Israeli enemy entity, who have been committing acts of genocide in the Gaza Strip for more than two years.

He said: “The World Economic Forum (WEF) canceled my appearance in Davos based on lies and political pressure from ‘Israel,’ its agents, and its supporters based in the United States.”

The Iranian foreign minister pointed out the painful irony that “the Israeli enemy’s genocide against the Palestinians and the mass massacres that have claimed the lives of more than 71,000 innocent people did not prompt the World Economic Forum to cancel a single invitation extended to Israeli officials.”

He added: “In fact, the Israeli entity’s president, Herzog, conducted a celebratory tour in Davos in January 2024, even as he was facing criminal charges in Switzerland over the ongoing genocide in Gaza.”

Araghchi continued: “If the forum wants to pretend it is taking a moral stance, that is its right, but the current blatant double standard reflects nothing but moral degradation and intellectual poverty.”

He also affirmed a fundamental reality regarding the recent violence in Iran, stating: “We had to defend our people against armed terrorists and ISIS-style killings, which received open support from the Zionist Mossad.”
