Tehran has reiterated its support for Venezuela as foreign ministers of the two countries discussed recent US aggression during a phone conversation.
Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, and Yván Gil Pinto, Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, spoke by phone to review recent developments in the aftermath of the US military aggression against Venezuela.
During the call, Iran’s foreign minister strongly condemned the US military action against Venezuela, as well as the abduction of the country’s legitimate president and his wife.
Araghchi described the move as a clear example of state terrorism and a blatant violation of Venezuela’s sovereignty and the national will of its people.
He reaffirmed the Islamic Republic of Iran’s firm support for the people of Venezuela and its elected government.
For his part, Venezuela’s foreign minister expressed appreciation for Iran’s principled stance and its declaration of solidarity with Venezuela.
Yván Gil Pinto emphasized that the Venezuelan people and government are determined to defend their national sovereignty and right to self-determination in the face of the United States’ illegal and bullying policies.
The phone conversation comes amid heightened regional and international reactions to Washington’s recent actions toward Venezuela. Iran has repeatedly criticized US policies in Latin America, framing them as violations of international law, national sovereignty, and the right of nations to self-determination.
