Cuba Warns US Policies Threaten Peace in Latin America and Caribbean

Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez said on Thursday that peace, security, and stability in Latin America and the Caribbean are being threatened by what he described as the US government’s war doctrine and its pursuit of “peace through force”.

“Twelve years ago, the Heads of State and Government of the region signed the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace at the CELAC Summit in Havana,” Bruno Rodríguez wrote on X.

He added, “Today, peace, security, and stability in Our America are at risk due to the belligerent doctrine of the US government, which seeks to impose “peace through force,” and its clear interest in reviving the discredited Monroe Doctrine.”

“There is an urgent need to reclaim the firm will of all CELAC member states, as expressed in that Proclamation, which is now being undermined by ambitions of imperial domination,” he stressed.
