Demonstration in Paris denouncing US military intervention in Venezuela

The French capital, Paris, witnessed today, Saturday, a demonstration denouncing the US military intervention in Venezuela, which targeted the country’s President Nicolas Maduro and his wife.

Hundreds of protesters gathered in the Bastille Square at the invitation of several parties, expressing their condemnation of the US military intervention in Venezuela and the detention of Maduro and his wife Celia Flores, according to the Anadolu Agency.

The protesters raised banners written with phrases such as “Release Maduro” and “No to the imperialist attack, yes to the sovereignty of peoples”.

They also chanted slogans in solidarity with the Venezuelan people, including “(US President Donald) Trump leave, Venezuela does not belong to you,” demanding the withdrawal of the United States from the Caribbean region.

They called for enabling the Venezuelan people to decide their future freely and with sovereignty, and lifting the sanctions imposed on Venezuela.

Supporters of the Palestinian cause also participated in the demonstration.

In violation of international law, the US army launched on January 3 an attack on Venezuela, which resulted in more than 100 deaths and the arrest of President Maduro and his wife and their transfer to the United States
