The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates strongly condemned the US aggression against Venezuela, which was accompanied by the abduction of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the ministry said that the actions carried out by the United States constitute a flagrant violation of the United Nations Charter, international law, and Venezuela’s sovereignty, stability, and territorial integrity.
The statement said the move as an extension of a long history of US interference in the internal affairs of states, particularly in Latin America, stressing that it reflects an American approach based on political bullying, the use of force, and the “law of the jungle,” alongside the plundering of peoples’ resources and the targeting of all those who oppose US hegemony and seek independence and liberation from subservience—poses that threaten international peace and security.
The Foreign Ministry called on the international community and the United Nations to assume their legal and moral responsibilities by condemning this act of aggression, ensuring respect for the rules of international law, and safeguarding the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of states.
