Munir Al-Barsh, Director General of Gaza’s Ministry of Health, warned Sunday that the crisis in Gaza has escalated beyond direct attacks into a systematic starvation policy, described as “engineered slow killing.”
Al-Barsh said essential food, medicine, vitamins, and baby formula are largely blocked, while non-essential goods are allowed, leaving humanitarian aid largely ineffective. He highlighted rising child malnutrition, maternal anemia, early miscarriages, premature births, and a surge in congenital deformities.
He stressed that this is not a temporary food crisis but a deliberate strategy amounting to soft genocide, with food and aid trucks used as tools of pressure.
Despite a ceasefire taking effect on October 10, Israel continues daily violations and restricts most humanitarian aid from entering Gaza.
