Iranian President: Recent conspiracy was revenge for enemy defeat in 12-day war

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in a message to the Iranian people on Thursday, expressed his solidarity with those affected by the recent bitter events and his commitment to justice.

He stated that these events were a response to the enemy’s defeat in the 12-day war and an attempt to create a crisis and destabilize the country.

According to the Iranian news agency IRNA, President Pezeshkian added that these events were a difficult test for the country, emphasizing the government’s commitment to protecting citizens’ rights, addressing the situation of detainees fairly and justly, compensating victims, and seriously addressing the root causes of the violence.

He continued: “What we have witnessed in recent weeks has been a difficult and bitter test that has left a deep mark on all of us. These events were painful and completely unacceptable. The enemies transformed Iran from a scene of legitimate civil protest into a bloody and violent spectacle, resulting in the deaths of nearly three thousand citizens and leaving thousands more physically and psychologically injured.

He emphasized that the same hands that spilled the blood of more than a thousand women, men, youth, children, scholars, and leaders during the 12-day war have reappeared today in a different guise, through a group of agents, to transform legitimate protest into destructive rage that led to the burning of hundreds of mosques, schools, public spaces, and national assets.

He stressed that the government and the country consider themselves responsible to all those affected by these tragic events and will work, with the help and cooperation of the Iranian people, to compensate for the losses to the greatest extent possible.”
