Iraqi Defense Ministry confirms army takes full control of Ain al-Asad Base following U.S. withdrawal

The Iraqi Ministry of Defense confirmed today, Saturday, that the Iraqi Army will assume full management of Ain al-Asad Base following the withdrawal of U.S. forces.

 

In a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), the ministry said: “Chief of Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General of Special Forces Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, today oversaw the assignment of duties and responsibilities to the military units and formations at Ain al-Asad Base, after the U.S. forces withdrew and the Iraqi Army assumed full control of the base.”

 

The statement added that “the Chief of Staff monitored the stages of assuming security responsibilities through his field supervision of the deployment of units and formations within the base, including the 65th Special Forces Brigade and its battalions, as well as the allocation of headquarters for the Air Force Command and Army Aviation Command.”
