The Israeli occupation authorities have approved the construction of 126 new settlement units in the Sanur outpost in the northern West Bank, a move considered a serious escalation in the settlement expansion policy pursued by the current occupation government.
The so-called Israeli Finance Minister, Bezalel Smotrich, described the decision as aiming to “erase the shame of the withdrawal from the northern West Bank,” a statement reflecting the occupation’s ongoing imposition of a settlement reality that tightens the squeeze on the Palestinian people, according to Sand News Agency.
This decision is part of a series of accelerated settlement projects. Official data and research institutions indicate that, by the end of 2025, the occupation authorities had approved thousands of settlement housing units in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
This settlement escalation comes within the framework of a deliberate policy employed by the occupation to facilitate settlement construction, including removing civil security approval restrictions and speeding up building procedures, reflecting a clear strategy to consolidate control over Palestinian lands in the West Bank.
