Israeli Presence in Somaliland: A Direct Threat to Yemen and Arab National Security

The Israeli presence in Somaliland has become a serious threat not only to Yemen’s national security, but also to Arab security—particularly in the Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula—and extends to the Horn of Africa and other African states.

This issue has reached a very serious stage and requires a firm, cautious response, including practical measures to contain the occupying entity’s presence in this strategic region.

In his latest speech, the leader of the revolution, Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi said: “We are serious about targeting any Israeli presence in Somaliland, including military bases or similar facilities. Any fixed Zionist presence within our reach will be struck without hesitation.”

The issue of Israeli military presence cannot be addressed through statements or condemnations alone, as such rhetoric carries no weight. It requires a decisive and responsible response to confront a threat now endangering regional security, making confrontation inevitable.

Reports indicate that Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar entered Somaliland via Ethiopia, with his aircraft reportedly disabling identification systems amid concerns over Yemen’s attacks. Meanwhile, the occupying entity appears to place little weight on the broader Arab and Islamic position, as many states have normalized relations and lack real deterrence.

Serious action against the Zionist presence in Somaliland is imperative and cannot be ignored, as it poses a national security threat not only to Yemen but also to other Arab and African states. National security cannot be taken lightly. The United States itself has invoked national security to justify claims over distant Greenland; Somaliland, by contrast, lies in close proximity to Yemen, the Arabian Peninsula and the Gulf States. Will Anyone Take Heed?”
