Legal Group demands International Criminal Court investigate obstruction of aid to Gaza

The Palestinian legal institutions coalition “Hurriyya” demanded today, Wednesday, that the International Criminal Court include the crime of obstructing the access of humanitarian and relief aid in its ongoing investigations into the Palestinian situation.

The coalition called, in a statement, for opening an urgent and independent international investigation into the crime of preventing humanitarian aid and using starvation as a method of war, confirming that “these practices constitute a complete international crime,” according to “Quds Press” agency.

It clarified that it is following with great concern the decision of the Israeli enemy to prevent dozens of international humanitarian and relief institutions from working in the Gaza Strip.

It emphasized that “the goal of this crime is to deprive more than two million Palestinians in Gaza of food, medicine, and health services as part of the policy of oppression and collective starvation committed by the Israeli enemy.”

The coalition held the Israeli enemy fully responsible for the catastrophic repercussions of this decision, especially in light of the near-total collapse of the healthcare system and the scarcity of basic resources for civilians, while the war on the Strip and winter conditions continue.

It warned that international silence towards these crimes constitutes direct participation and undermines international justice, confirming that the international community bears moral and legal responsibility for what is happening in Gaza.

The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip entered into force on October 10 of last year, after two consecutive years of a Zionist genocidal war. However, the Israeli enemy army commits daily violations of the agreement and still prevents the entry of the majority of humanitarian aid into the Strip.
