Palestinian Prisoners’ Media: Scabies outbreak & escalating repression in Israeli Gilboa Prison

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office reported on Friday a worsening spread of skin diseases, particularly scabies, inside Israel’s Gilboa Prison, due to deliberate medical neglect, poor hygiene, and denial of treatment.

The office added, in a statement obtained by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), that prisoners are enduring harsh winter conditions while wearing light clothing and having only one set of clothes, with no heating available in the cells.

It also pointed to intensified prison management operations involving repression and provocation, noting that documented physical assaults on prisoners included cases of electric shocks.

The statement confirmed that the Israeli prison authorities have reduced food quantities , the number of loaves of bread, and cut the outdoor break time to only one hour per day—actions constituting a compounded crime for which the occupying authorities bear full responsibility.
