Spanish Prime Minister rejects any form of “Subordination” of his country to United States

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed his rejection of any form of “subordination” of his country to the United States, confirming his determination to defend equal relations between the two countries.

Sánchez said during a conference at the headquarters of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs with his country’s ambassadors abroad, on Thursday: “Spain and the current administration are supporters of the Atlantic alliance, but Atlanticism never means subordination: it means sincere cooperation on an equal footing, based on shared goals, from both North America and Spain,” according to the Russia Today website.

The head of the Spanish government added that the American aggression against Venezuela clearly contradicts international law and cannot be justified.

Sánchez pointed out that his country intends to continue defending Venezuela’s sovereignty and the right of its citizens to determine their own fate without external interference.

He affirmed that the Venezuelan people must decide the country’s political future.

Last Tuesday, Sánchez described the American aggression against Venezuela as a “very dangerous precedent,” confirming that changing power by force is unacceptable and contrary to international law.
