Farmer Mohamed Othman Youssef al-Agha checks on the spinach plants in his field. al-Agha started, on 01 December 2025, planting spinach in about 2000 sq. m. of his land. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has supported 200 farmers in Rafah and Khan Younis areas of Gaza with USD 2500 in conditional cash assistance to plant and cultivate critically needed crops with funding from the oPt Humanitarian Fund (oPt HF). The farmer hopes that he will be able to meet his family’s needs in terms of food and education. He also plans to cultivate the remaining part of his land in the coming season.
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) confirmed on Wednesday that farmers in the Gaza Strip are facing enormous challenges.

In a post on its X platform, monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the WFP stated, “Despite the immense challenges, farmers in the Gaza Strip are working to rebuild their lives.”
