Yemeni Media Official Hails Late President Al-Sammad as Symbol of Leadership and Resilience

Ahmed Yahya Rasae, Chairman of the Board of the Al-Thawra Foundation for Press, Printing, and Publishing, said the late President Saleh Ali Al-Sammad remains a symbol of high values and responsible leadership across all fields, noting that his annual commemoration reflects resilience, faith, and adherence to the Quranic path established by martyr leader Sayyed Hussein Badr al-Din al-Houthi.

Speaking at an event organized by the Ministry of Information and its affiliated institutions to mark the anniversary of Al-Sammad’s martyrdom, Rasae said the occasion represents “a reminder of values, exemplary conduct, and an outstanding national figure,” describing Al-Sammad as a leader of steadfastness whose efforts and sacrifices were devoted to serving Yemen and managing state affairs.

Rasae said he knew Al-Sammad as a student, a fighter, an educator, and a leader deeply connected to God and the faith-based school of thought, distinguished by strong ethics, humility, and closeness to the people—qualities that earned him respect even among political opponents.

He added that Al-Sammad was targeted because of his leadership, sense of responsibility, and readiness to sacrifice in defense of Yemen and its sovereignty, recalling his well-known statement: “We want a state for the people, not a people for the state.”

Rasae argued that the assassination failed to achieve its objectives, saying evidence points to the continued resilience of Yemen’s leadership and people in the face of US, Saudi, and Emirati aggression.

He said this steadfastness is a product of what he described as the Quranic project, which has reached “deep into enemy territory” through advanced missile capabilities and the locally developed “Samad” drones.

The event was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Information, including Deputy Minister Dr. Omar Al-Bukhaiti and Mohammed Mansour, Undersecretary for External Relations and International Media, alongside media executives, journalists, and representatives of public and private media institutions
