Deputy FM Meets with Director of UN Special Envoy’s Office

Yemen’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Expatriates Affairs, Abdulwahid Abu Ras, met on Sunday with Mohammed Al-Ghanam, Director of the Office of the UN Special Envoy to Yemen.

During the meeting, Abdulwahid Abu Raa affirmed that Yemen’s relationship with the UN depends on respect for the country’s sovereignty and adherence to its national laws.

Abu Ras expressed appreciation for the envoy’s efforts to achieve comprehensive and lasting peace in Yemen.

He reiterated Sana’a’s commitment to building a sound relationship with the UN, grounded in respect for Yemen’s sovereignty, stability, and security, and compliance with its national legislation.

Abu Ras also emphasized the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ keenness to provide all necessary facilities to organizations operating in Yemen, enabling them to carry out their humanitarian duties and help alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people caused by ongoing aggression, blockade, and hostile policies toward Yemen.

In turn, the UN Special Envoy’s office briefed the Deputy Foreign Minister on the latest developments in implementing the prisoner exchange agreement and the efforts being made to advance this humanitarian issue.

The discussions also covered the recent UN Security Council resolution on the UN Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA) and the role assigned to the Special Envoy’s office in this context.
