The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said Israeli forces targeted journalists in Gaza for witnessing and reporting the truth.
“They carried cameras and notebooks, not weapons,” the Monitor noted on X. “Journalists documented crimes against civilians and suffering meant to remain hidden.”
It added that honoring silenced journalists ensures their reports are not forgotten.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli army, with U.S. and European support, has carried out a campaign in Gaza that left over 71,000 Palestinian civilians dead and 171,000 injured. Despite a ceasefire since October 10, violations continue and most humanitarian aid remains blocked.
