The Gaza Civil Defense announced on Tuesday that all its vehicles have ceased operating after running out of fuel, warning that the situation has completely halted humanitarian response efforts and requires immediate intervention.
In a brief statement, the agency said the fuel shortage has forced the suspension of body recovery operations, as vehicles are no longer able to move. It also said efforts to remove hazards and debris have been disrupted due to the lack of fuel needed to operate heavy equipment.
The civil defense said the crisis has severely affected its ability to respond to emergency distress calls, particularly amid harsh weather conditions that demand high levels of field readiness.
It called on international institutions and humanitarian organizations to take urgent action to supply emergency crews with the fuel required to operate vehicles and equipment, warning that essential life-saving services cannot continue without immediate support.
The fuel crisis comes amid severe Israeli restrictions on fuel entry into the Gaza Strip, further compounding the collapse of basic services in the enclave, which is already facing catastrophic humanitarian conditions following the genocide.
