United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Saturday that the absence of permanent African seats in the UN Security Council is indefensible.
Guterres stressed in a post on the “X” platform, monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the need for the UN Security Council to reflect the reality of today’s world, adding: “We are in 2026, not 1946,” referring to the year the United Nations was established.
He continued: “Whenever decisions are made about Africa and the world, Africa must be present at the table.”
