Iran condemns escalation of US’s illegal & inhumane blockade on Cuba

The spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Esmail Baghaei, condemned the escalation of the US economic blockade on Cuba and the pressures exerted on the country, expressing Iran’s solidarity with the Cuban people and government.

 

Baghaei emphasized in a post on the “X” platform, monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (SABA), that:

“The economic blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for more than 64 years has resulted in severe humanitarian , material consequences and has led to serious violations of the fundamental human rights of the Cuban people.”

 

He added: “There is no doubt that the economic sanctions imposed on Cuba constitute a blatant violation of the basic principles , rules of the United Nations Charter and international law, particularly the right of peoples to self-determination, the principle of respecting the national sovereignty of states, and the prohibition of interference in their internal affairs.”

 

Baghaei further stated: “The United States must be held accountable for its ongoing , systematic violations of these principles and rules, in addition to its widespread violations of the human rights of the Cuban people, which amount to committing a crime against humanity.”
