The Palestine Center for Prisoners Studies reported Tuesday that Israeli occupation authorities have issued more than 1,400 administrative detention orders since the start of the year, including new and renewed orders without specific charges, while rejecting 99% of appeals.
In a statement reviewed by Saba News Agency, the center described administrative detention as a form of collective punishment targeting activists, students, academics, journalists, community leaders, as well as women, children, and the elderly.
The number of administrative detainees has risen from 1,300 before October 7, 2023, to more than 3,500 as of February, according to the center, which said most appeals are rejected based on recommendations from the Shin Bet.
