Kremlin: Plans to Transfer Nuclear Weapons to Ukraine Are “Crazy and Reckless”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described on Wednesday the talk surrounding plans by the United Kingdom and France to supply Ukraine with nuclear weapons or related technology as “crazy and reckless ideas,” expressing hope that the intelligence information available to Moscow would help thwart any steps of this kind.

Peskov said in a press statement that London and Paris are not expected to explicitly announce such plans, adding that Moscow’s basis is intelligence data he described as “not unfounded,” according to the Sputnik Agency.

He pointed out that this information will be taken into account in the context of Russian positions, including any potential negotiations to resolve the ongoing conflict.

For his part, Russian Presidential Assistant Yuri Ushakov affirmed that the Russian authorities will share the information they have with the United States of America.

Meanwhile, the Russian Federation Council called for opening investigations at the parliamentary level, as well as in the UN Security Council and the International Atomic Energy Agency, warning that any steps that exceed legal and international frameworks could lead to serious repercussions.

Council members affirmed that the implementation of such plans, if true, would constitute a dangerous escalation and Moscow would treat it as a direct threat to its security.
