The Philippine Office of Civil Defense announced on Saturday that at least eight people have died as a result of the impacts of Tropical Storm Basyang.
Deputy spokesperson of the Office of Civil Defense, Diego Agustin Mariano, said that four deaths were recorded in Cagayan de Oro City after a landslide swept through a residential area, while three deaths were reported in Iligan City due to flooding.
He added that another person drowned in Agusan del Norte province, according to the Oman News Agency.
It is worth noting that more than 2,000 people were evacuated in Cagayan de Oro City, while thousands of travelers were stranded across the Philippines after sea travel was suspended
