Prisoners’ Media: Palestinian Prisoner Awawdeh’s Health Deteriorates in Israeli Damon Prison

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office reported on Tuesday that prisoner Intisar Al-Awawdeh is suffering from ongoing medical neglect in Israeli Damon Prison, exacerbating her health condition. She suffers from heart problems and is not receiving appropriate care and treatment.

In a statement seen by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the office explained that Al-Awawdeh is suffering from the Israeli prison administration’s failure to provide her with her medication and the lack of regular medical follow-up. The statement noted that she has lost 18 kilograms and is being given medication for back pain that is unsuitable for her condition. She is also only transferred to the prison clinic upon the court’s request.

The office further stated that Al-Awawdeh’s detention conditions are increasing her suffering. She possesses only two pieces of clothing and is subjected to constant harassment within the prison. He emphasized that the continued medical neglect of prisoner Al-Awawda poses a real threat to her life, holding the Israeli prison administration fully responsible for the deterioration of her health.

The office called on human rights and humanitarian organizations to intervene urgently to pressure for the provision of necessary medical care and to ensure her treatment in accordance with international law.
