Russian air Defenses shoot down 24 Ukrainian UAVs

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced yesterday that Russian air defense systems shot down 24 Ukrainian drones overnight in four regions.

 

The ministry stated, “Overnight, on-duty air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 24 Ukrainian drones.”

 

The statement added that 11 drones were destroyed over Bryansk Oblast, 8 over Belgorod Oblast, 4 over Rostov Oblast, and 1 over Astrakhan Oblast.

 

In a related development, a Russian military source announced today, Wednesday, the destruction of a HIMARS missile system that had shelled the city of Belgorod in Kharkiv Oblast.

 

Sputnik news agency quoted a source as saying, “A joint airstrike near the village of Yurchenkovo targeted a HIMARS missile system position that had been shelling civilian targets in Belgorod.”

 

The statement added, “The command post of the 48th Independent Artillery Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, 14 pieces of equipment, and a platoon of personnel were also destroyed.”

 

The previous day, Ukrainian Armed Forces shelled the city and region of Belgorod with artillery, damaging the power grid. No casualties were reported.
