Somali President: What Is Happening in Gaza Is an Unprecedented Level of Inhumanity

Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud said that what is happening in Gaza represents an “unprecedented level of inhumanity” in modern history.

Speaking at the 17th Al Jazeera Forum in Doha, Mohamud said the continuation of the Palestinian tragedy without a genuine political horizon threatens international peace and security.

He warned that if the world fails to act today, it will pay a far greater price tomorrow as the system of international law continues to unravel.

He accused Israel of “illegal interference” in Somalia’s sovereignty, describing it as “a challenge to the entire African continent,” and said such actions undermine regional stability.

Mohamud also warned against attempts to reshape the existing international order, stressing that “we should not return to the logic of power over the power of law.”

The Somali president added that Somalia remains committed to combating terrorism and emphasized that security and stability in the Red Sea are vital not only for the region but for global trade and international security.
