United Nations Secretary-General, António Guterres, strongly condemned the attack that targeted worshippers today, Friday, at a mosque in Pakistan’s capital, Islamabad.
In a statement published on the UN News website, Guterres reiterated that attacks against civilians and places of worship are unacceptable, emphasizing the need to identify those responsible and bring them to justice.
He also expressed the United Nations’ solidarity with the government and people of Pakistan in their efforts to combat terrorism and violent extremism.
According to reports, at least 31 people were killed and 169 injured in the terrorist attack during Friday prayers at a mosque in the Tarlai area of Islamabad.
