The United Nations confirmed on Wednesday that the accumulation of waste in the Gaza Strip has led to a public health emergency and grave environmental risks threatening the residents.

In a post on “X” monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the UN stated: “Two years of war in Gaza have caused waste to accumulate to dangerous levels, leading to a public health emergency and serious environmental risks.”

It noted that the UN is working with local organizations to transport tons of waste in an attempt to contain the growing health threats.
