UNRWA: Families in Gaza Still Face Severe Hardships as Displacement Continues

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) affirmed on Wednesday that families in the Gaza Strip continue to face severe hardships as displacement continues.

The UN agency said in a post on the “X” platform, monitored by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), that obtaining basic assistance for families in the Gaza Strip remains critically important.

In its post, it recounted the suffering of an elderly Palestinian woman, Hamdiya (66 years old), who supports her family of six in Gaza after they were forcibly displaced from their home, explaining that she lives in an UNRWA shelter, cares for her children and grandchildren, including a son with special needs, and relies on basic services to face daily challenges.

With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has committed genocide, siege, and starvation crimes in the Gaza Strip for over two consecutive years since October 7, 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of 72,082 Palestinian civilians, the majority of them children and women, and the injury of 171,761 others as of today. This is a preliminary toll, as thousands of victims remain under the rubble and on the roads, with ambulance and rescue crews unable to reach them.

The ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip came into effect last October 10, after two consecutive years of genocidal Zionist war. However, the Israeli enemy army continues to commit daily violations of the agreement, and still prevents the entry of most humanitarian aid into the sector, especially aid provided by UNRWA.
