Iran’s supreme leader mourns IRGC Navy commander

Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei on Monday offered condolences over the death of Alireza Tangsiri, chief commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy, describing him as a brave and devoted commander whose death represents a great honor for Iran and its Armed Forces.

In a message, Khamenei praised the IRGC Navy commander’s years of struggle and service, emphasizing his role in safeguarding Iran’s maritime borders.

He stated that the courageous and brave commander of the IRGC Navy was honored with martyrdom after years of struggle.

“The martyrdom of the brave son of Tangestan, a soldier of Iran and guardian of Islam during the epic of the “third imposed war,” was a great source of pride for the courageous people of Bushehr, the youth of the southern regions of Iran, the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic, and the Iranian nation, who have always safeguarded the country’s independence and maritime borders, particularly in the Persian Gulf.”

The Leader added that this would strengthen Iran’s path of maritime power and resistance.

Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei extended congratulations and condolences on the martyrdom of the valiant commander to his respected family, comrades, and commanders of the IRGC Navy and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps, and prayed to Almighty God to elevate the martyr’s rank.

The IRGC on Monday announced the martyrdom of Rear Admiral Tangsiri, saying he succumbed to severe injuries sustained while reinforcing defensive positions following major blows inflicted on enemy targets.

The IRGC said he was injured during operations linked to strengthening Iran’s defensive shield along islands and coastlines targeted by hostile forces, after significant retaliatory strikes that reportedly damaged enemy infrastructure and downed a US aircraft.
