The Commission of Detainees’ and Ex‑Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner Society (PPS) have reported the martyrdom of Palestinian prisoner Marwan Herzallah, a 54-year-old from Nablus, inside Megiddo prison.
His death was announced on Saturday evening in a joint statement released by the Commission and PPS.
Herzallah had been in jail since January 8, 2026, on alleged incitement charges. One of his legs was amputated in 1995 after being shot by Israeli forces.
Herzallah is among more than 100 prisoners who have died in Israeli prisons and detention camps since the start of the war on Gaza, with the identities of only 89 confirmed so far.
“Deaths among prisoners occur amid widespread torture, systematic starvation, medical neglect, and repeated assaults, compounded by harsh detention conditions that have turned prisons into one of the most notorious places of extermination,” the Commission and PPS said.
