A southern activist has issued an open call to citizens in areas under the control of the occupation to go out in a “silent” protest, reflecting the extent of the living suffering that citizens are experiencing, by carrying empty pots and banging them with spoons without any chants or slogans.

Activist Ahmed Al-Sakhyani stressed that this method will be a strong message to the interior and exterior, especially to the Gulf states that have supervised the administration of Yemen during the last decade, noting that this period was the worst in the country’s history, as crises worsened and the people reached the brink of poverty and famine.

Al-Sakhyani pointed out that this protest will not be just an expression of anger, but will send a clear message that Yemenis are living in catastrophic conditions that they did not witness even during the most controversial periods of the rule of the late President Ali Abdullah Saleh, stressing that the comparison between the past and the present has become a reality that imposes itself.

He called on citizens to determine the places of assembly in advance, bring pots and spoons, and document the event and publish it widely on social media, so that the message reaches the world.

Al-Sakhyani concluded by calling for the people’s voice to be conveyed in a civilized but meaningful way, stressing that empty pots are the true echo of the voice of hunger, and silent protest will be stronger than all slogans.
