Senior Pentagon officials have admitted that the Yemeni army conducted a surface-to-air missile test targeting a US F-16 fighter jet on February 19.
The American Fox News channel, citing senior Pentagon officials, said that the Houthis in Yemen had fired surface-to-air missiles for the first time at a US F-16 fighter jet.
Pentagon officials claimed that the missile did not hit the fighter jet, which was flying over the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen.
US Defense Department officials told the channel that on the same day, the Houthis fired another missile at a US MQ-9 drone, stressing that the Houthis’ launch of these missiles was a major escalation in the military confrontation.
According to Fox News, there are currently discussions at the highest levels of the US military regarding what the channel called the best ways to confront the Houthis.
It is worth noting that the Yemeni air defenses were able to shoot down 14 American MQ-9 fighter jets during the battle to support the Mujahideen in Gaza.
