Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stressed the need to preserve and strengthen the nation’s vast popular support base.
During a meeting on “Neighborhood-Centered Security” attended by a group of officials, Pezeshkian underlined the importance of enhancing the people’s role in various aspects of governance, according to the Iranian News Agency (IRNA) on Sunday.
Pezeshkian highlighted the significance of expanding security nationwide, stating, “If we can engage the people in decision-making, supervision, management, security, and health, the country will gain additional strength. This participation not only provides strong support for the state but is also an effective strategy for sustainable development.”
He emphasized that education must be the foundation for raising a generation committed to the nation’s principles and values, saying, “Training students in skills through improving school education quality is a serious priority for the government. We must nurture a generation that is not only competent but also loyal to the nation’s principles and values.”
The Iranian president discussed the unique role of mosques in preserving social cohesion and unity, stating, “As a popular institution, the mosque can serve as a center of solidarity and compassion within society. Strengthening this role is one of the key strategies in building sustainable popular security.”
Pezeshkian expressed his appreciation for the people’s solidarity and exemplary support for the state, government, and leadership during these critical times. He noted, “The Iranian people have always supported the state, the revolution, and the leadership in difficult times. We must value this social asset and involve them in the country’s decision-making. Public participation in ensuring security will be a guarantee of its strength and sustainability.”
He also stressed the need to promote unity in official and national platforms, saying, “It is essential that the voice of unity and closeness is heard through platforms, national media, and Friday prayers, and that divisive and inflammatory rhetoric is completely avoided. This aligns with the guidance of the Leader of the Revolution, who has always emphasized national solidarity and social cohesion.”
Pezeshkian further underscored, “This great public asset must be preserved and strengthened. People must see in our behavior and speech that we are here to serve them. If we are a refuge for the people, they will never turn to outsiders. The more space given to the people, the greater the role the state will play.”
