Wall Street Journal: Yemen’s Naval Operations Mark Unprecedented Shift In Maritime Warfare

The American newspaper The Wall Street Journal confirmed that the Yemeni Armed Forces carried out the most intense naval operation since the beginning of the open conflict with the Zionist entity.

The paper reported that specialized Yemeni units executed two operations against ships linked to the Zionist regime, describing them as the most complex and organized since the start of the naval campaign. The operations lasted over 48 hours, with video footage released by Yemen’s Military Media documenting the detonation and boarding of the ship. It also noted that the vessel had visited an Israeli port last December.

The report highlighted that these operations represented a significant shift in both planning and execution. Suicide boats, drones, and guided missiles were used simultaneously. This comes nearly two months after US President Trump announced the cessation of aggression on Yemen.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the Yemeni operations demonstrate that Sana’a possesses both the capability and the resolve to cripple global shipping at will. The report added that Yemen is now conducting the battle on its own terms, amid the retreat of Western coalitions from the Red Sea theater and the exposure of the fragility of Western defense systems in the face of relentless precision maritime strikes.

Since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Gaza in October 2023, Yemen has emerged as a central force within the regional resistance axis, utilizing its strategic position along the Red Sea to impose a naval blockade on Israeli-linked maritime activity. The Yemeni Armed Forces have repeatedly declared that any vessel connected to the Zionist entity—particularly those headed to occupied Palestinian ports like Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat)—would be treated as a legitimate target.

This policy has translated into a series of highly coordinated naval operations, most notably the sinking of the Magic Seas and ETERNITY C vessels. These actions have demonstrated not only the growing operational capabilities of Yemen’s military forces, but also the precision and discipline guiding their campaign. The Armed Forces have stressed that each operation is intelligence-driven, targeting only those ships directly linked to Israeli ports, thereby reinforcing their narrative of strategic restraint and calculated response.

The latest naval operations, executed over a period exceeding 48 hours, reflect a notable evolution in Yemen’s military approach—integrating unmanned boats, aerial drones, and guided missiles in a synchronized attack. These developments further underscore Yemen’s transformation from a geographically confined actor into a maritime power capable of reshaping regional dynamics and disrupting hostile trade flows in one of the world’s most vital shipping corridors.
