The Israeli army announced today, Wednesday, the creation of a new operational axis in the Gaza Strip, designed to separate the eastern and western parts of Khan Younis.
According to a statement from the Israeli military, over the past few weeks, the 36th Division has been operating in the Khan Younis area. The 188th Brigade and the Golani Brigade have now completed the opening of the “Magen Oz” axis, which divides east and west Khan Younis.
The axis extends approximately 15 kilometers and is described in the statement as a central component in pressuring Hamas and decisively concluding the battle against the Khan Younis Brigade.
Israeli forces claim to have killed dozens of fighters and discovered and destroyed infrastructure, including weapons depots and underground tunnel routes.
The statement concluded that the “Southern Command continues to expand and strengthen control over this central axis and work to protect the security of the citizens of the State of Israel, and especially the residents of the Gaza envelope.”
