The Islamic Resistance Movement ( Hamas) on Saturday condemned the mutual recognition announced between Israeli occupation and the Somaliland, calling it a dangerous precedent that exposes Israel’s growing international isolation over its crimes against the Palestinian people.
In a statement, Hamas said it categorically rejects the move declared by the secessionist administration in Somaliland, describing it as “an attempt to gain false legitimacy from a fascist occupying entity that has seized Palestinian land, committed war crimes and genocide, and is facing mounting global isolation.”
The Movement stressed its firm rejection of Israeli plans aimed at forcibly displacing Palestinians, including proposals that present Somaliland as a potential destination for residents of the Gaza Strip. Hamas said such ideas represent a continuation of Israel’s long-standing policies of uprooting and ethnic cleansing.
Hamas added that the occupation government led by Benjamin Netanyahu, whom it described as a war criminal, is turning to recognition of a secessionist administration in Somalia as a reflection of the profound political and moral crisis “Israel” faces internationally due to its acts of genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.
The statement called for intensifying Israel’s isolation at both popular and official levels, urging the international community to continue efforts to politically and legally isolate Israel and to hold its leaders accountable before international courts for crimes against humanity.
Hamas also praised Arab and Islamic states that swiftly condemned the move as a serious violation of international law, noting that it constitutes a clear assault on Somalia’s unity and sovereignty and an exploitation of complex internal conditions to serve colonial agendas.
In the same context, the Movement warned against Israeli policies aimed at fragmenting Arab states, destabilizing the region and interfering in internal affairs, saying such actions fall within a broader Zionist colonial project seeking domination and the spread of chaos.
