The Supreme Political Council considered the Zionist entity’s announcement recognizing the “Somaliland” region as a separate entity from the Republic of Somalia to be a blatant aggressive step that represents a flagrant violation of the sovereignty and unity of the sisterly Republic of Somalia, and a blatant interference in its internal affairs.
In a statement issued by it, the Supreme Political Council affirmed its full solidarity with the brotherly Somali people and their firm right to preserve the unity of their territory, their sovereignty, and the independence of their national decision.
It strongly condemned this recognition by a usurping entity that lacks legitimacy for itself, which comes within the framework of the Zionist entity’s expansionist schemes aimed at undermining security and stability in the Arab and African region, threatening international navigation in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, and harming Arab and Islamic national security.
The Council warned the Zionist entity against any endeavors or attempts to take any part of Somali territory as a foothold to implement its aggressive, intelligence, and military agendas, as this would constitute a direct threat to the security and stability of the entire region, and its consequences would not be confined to Somalia alone.
It held the parties complicit with the Zionist entity in the Somaliland region fully responsible-politically, legally, and morally-for the repercussions of this dangerous path and for the resulting threat to the security of Somalia and the region.
The Supreme Political Council affirmed that any Zionist presence or activity on Somali territory would be a military target for our armed forces, as it constitutes aggression against Somalia and against Yemeni, Arab, and Islamic national security, and it will not be regarded as a fait accompli or a matter that can be accepted.
It affirmed that Somalia’s security is part of Yemen’s security, that the security of the region is a shared responsibility, and that the nation is capable-if its positions are unified-of thwarting all Zionist conspiracies, regardless of the multiplicity of their tools or the changing of their titles.
The Council renewed its affirmation of its principled and steadfast position in opposing normalization and rejecting recognition of the Zionist entity, and in supporting the just causes of the nation, foremost among them the Palestinian cause, as it is the first line of defense for the security and dignity of the nation, and that relinquishing it opens the door for the Zionist enemy to plunder the resources of peoples and successively target their states.
The Supreme Political Council called on all states on both shores of the Red Sea, and the Islamic and Arab worlds, to take practical steps to prevent the Israeli plan from violating Somalia and the entire region.
